IKV's mission in research, teaching and industry

The IKV – Institute for Plastics Processing in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University is Europe's leading research and training institute in the field of plastics technology.

The close connection between science and industry is at the heart of the Institute's research. Our research, oriented to industrial practice, is built logically and consistently on the basis of fundamental scientific research and enables the direct application of the results in trade and industry. For companies in the plastics industry, numerous possibilities exist for using our qualified services and working together with the Institute.

With its Chair of Plastics Processing, IKV is part of the Mechanical Engineering faculty of RWTH Aachen University. Students of plastics technology have access to the state-of-the-art, excellently equipped pilot plants and laboratories at the Institute. With its academic teaching, IKV provides for the qualification of upcoming engineers in the plastics industry.

IKV's network covers all the areas of the plastics industry. With more than 290 members worldwide, the Institute is in constant dialogue, and in this way ensures the relevance of its research.
