An integrative approach

As a process for the continuous production of both semi-finished and ready-to-use products, extrusion constitutes a key sector of the plastics industry.

It generally involves more than one raw material passing through a complex process chain – from compounding and granulation right through to the makeup of the finished part. Each and every step needs to be optimised both within itself and in respect of the process as a whole.

High-quality customised products

The aim is to produce high-quality customised products in a stable, sustainable process. This integrative approach, which extends from compounding, via screw, die and process design, right through to further processing and quality assurance, is reflected directly in the research aspirations of the IKV's Extrusion and Further Processing department.

The ability to consider the process chain in its entirety constitutes a key factor in ensuring the practical relevance and quality of our research.
