The aim of Research Group 860 is to establish and research new process chains for the production of continuous fibre-reinforced plastic parts. These process chains are focused on a high level of automation plus suitability for large production runs.

Within the research unit, an overall examination is made of the entire value chain from the roving to the finished part. Within the process chains, the manufacturing steps of "preform production", "impregnation" and "forming and crosslinking" are dealt with and supplemented by relevant studies in the fields of handling and mould technology.
