60 years of innovation for plastics processing

In 2010, the Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University celebrates its 60th birthday.

The IKV's International Plastics Technology Colloquium might be described as the "cradle" of the Institute as we know it today. The most recent IKV Colloquium – the 25th – was successfully held in Aachen in March with 500 participants from over 250 companies and 40 exhibitors. The 1st Plastics Processing Colloquium – as it was then called – on October 28, 1950, marked the founding of the IKV.

There are several reasons for celebration in 2010. The 25th Colloquium is in its 60th year and, at the same time, it is the 60th birthday of the IKV. It goes without saying that, during this period, both the Institute and its Colloquium have moved very much with the times.

It has been the influence behind numerous many innovations in plastics processing, and the Colloquium will continue to do justice to this year's motto in the years to come.

The motto for the anniversary year is

60 years of innovation for plastics processing.
