More than 250 companies from all over the world presented their products and innovations at DKT IRC 2021. The scientific conference, which took place at the same time, also offered a broad program with 133 papers and 36 posters on all topics related to the rubber industry.
A team of five scientists from IKV’s Rubber Technology department represented the institute both at the booth on Science Campus in hall 9 and in various sessions in the scientific lecture program. Melanie Kostka analysed the influence of process parameters on processing in the internal mixer and compound quality in her presentation in the “Processing” session. Clemens Wiesel described the identification of batch variations in the elastomer injection moulding process using an online-rheometer in his presentation in the same session. In the session „Simulation“ Noah Mentges talked about the simulative implementation of the influence of the load direction on the long-term behaviour of thermoplastic elastomers.
The industry also paid special attention to the next generation of specialists and managers: With a forum of young researchers and an Educational Symposium for newcomers to the industry. IKV had a part in both. Fabian Fey presented his research on a novel approach to quantify the cross-linking degree of rubber parts by means of acoustic measurements in a student session. Together with Frank Lennartz from Hutchinson he also introduced newcomers to the industry to the subject of rubber extrusion during the Educational Symposium. Clemens Wiesel, together with Clemens Behmenburg from LWB Steinl, gave an introduction into rubber injection moulding.
