Top-level research at the 2nd Symposium on Plastics Technology

IKV and PPS organise global forum for polymer research in Aachen

The 2nd International Symposium on Plastics Technology will be held on 5 and 6 September in Aachen.

IKV and the PPS – Polymer Processing Society – warmly invite all forward-thinkers in plastics technology to attend the 2nd International Symposium on Plastics Technology in Aachen on 5 and 6 September, 2022. The Symposium will offer not only scientists but also users in the field of plastics an inspiring forum to learn about ongoing research projects from all parts of the world, to discuss urgent issues and new scientific findings, to network and to gain new ideas and impulses for shaping the future of plastics technology.

More than 100 scientific presentations submitted

To put together the programme for the Symposium, researchers at universities and in the development departments of industrial companies worldwide were asked to submit their contributions on the topics of additive manufacturing, circular economy/recycling, lightweight technologies, digitisation, injection moulding and extrusion/compounding/rheology. The number of papers submitted in response to the call for papers was very pleasing indeed. In fact, more than 100 researchers from 14 countries applied to take part in the Symposium, with the aim of presenting their topics of plastics research to a specialist audience.

A twelve-man international scientific committee read all the submitted papers, evaluated them and then made a selection of the best submissions. This has resulted in a lecture programme consisting of 21 sessions, each with three scientific presentations. Three plenary lectures, also dealing with the topic of sustainability, will round off the programme.

The Symposium will be accompanied by a supporting program intended to encourage networking of the participants. On the evening before the Symposium, all speakers and participants are invited to a first get-together on the Melaten campus. At the Polymer Engineers' Pizza Event (PEPE), initial contacts can be made and IKV’s pilot plants and laboratories can be visited. Apart from that, a soirée is planned in Aachen’s city centre and the participants can also attend the get-together at the 31st International Colloquium Plastics Technology.

International science perspectives and practically oriented research results

Linking the Symposium to the 31st International Colloquium Plastics Technology – in terms of both date and location – creates a unique opportunity to experience, in the Aachen Eurogress, the combination of international science perspectives and practically oriented research results. The Symposium and Colloquium can each be booked separately, but participants attending both events will benefit from reduced combined tickets.

The main sponsor of the 2nd International Symposium on Plastics Technology is BASF SE.
