The upcoming international symposium on trends in PU processing will pursue the central question of how the sustainable, cost-efficient and eco-friendly processing of polyurethane can be achieved in the different branches. The Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and the Skilled Crafts at RWTH Aachen University extends an invitation to attend the symposium in Aachen on 19 March. Experts from industry and research will present the latest developments and challenges for the PU market. The event will be chaired by Dr. Ulrich Liman from Covestro Deutschland AG.

Polyurethane is a highly versatile material that is used in virtually all branches of industry, for example as a compact elastomer material in the building industry for insulation, as flexible foam cushioning for furniture, or as a coating for the functionalisation of product surfaces. The latest developments in research and industry with the target of sustainability will focus on the material itself, the processing techniques, mould technology and recycling for various applications.

The main topics at this IKV symposium will therefore be: Sustainable PU applications and technological enablers, eco-friendly materials, additives and recycling of PU, Industry 4.0 in PU processing, and approaches in institutional basic research. Apart from Covestro, the following companies in the polyurethanes segment will also make a contribution to the aforementioned topics: FEPS - Fire and Environment Protection Service, Hennecke, H&S Anlagentechnik and INOAC. On the research side, there will be contributions from Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM), Bremen, the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components, and IKV, both of RWTH Aachen University.

The symposium is targeted above all at research scientists, engineers and technical managers for development, production and sales in polyurethane processing, material production and plant engineering and at planners of PU series processes and the associated quality assurance

The symposium language is English.
