During the excursion week at RWTH Aachen University, students have the opportunity every year to deepen their theoretical knowledge with the aid of practical examples. IKV, too, organised a four-day trip to Lake Constance for students of plastics technology in order to provide them with an opportunity for initial contacts with the industry. The hosts were key technology companies from the IKV network such as Arburg, Covestro, Südpack, Bosch Lindauer Dornier, Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaG and Kautex Textron.
At all the sites, the students were given a tour through the production facilities and were able to experience the production processes at first hand. The participants learned about the methods used by the companies to continuously improve their production technology in order to optimise processes and promote the circular economy of plastics.
The presentations by the companies on new developments and plastics applications offered the students an insight into various fields of activity and showed them how plastics are used and processed today, for example in car supplies, battery systems and packaging systems. The excursion, which was completely booked out, was a definite success, and the students were able to gather valuable experience and impressions.
