Internationalisation of research, development, training and technology transfer

International conferences

In addition to staging its own conferences with numerous guests from abroad – for example, the International Colloquium Plastics Technology and the International Injection Moulding Conference (IIMC) – IKV attends various conferences around the world every year, where it plays an active role with presentations and technical papers.

The International Colloquium Plastics Technology presents IKV's research results to a broad public from science and industry.

Presentations from IKV's scientific assistants and keynote speeches from industry experts provide the delegates with a comprehensive overview of current innovations, new production processes, methods of product development and corporate strategies in plastics technology. Plenary lectures from science and industry additionally show the latest trends and developments in the plastics segment. The accompanying industry trade show in the foyer of the Eurogress in Aachen offers companies in the plastics sector an outstanding platform to introduce themselves.

With around 800 participants, the IKV Colloquium is the meeting point for innovative plastics companies. Here, you can discuss with us the practical application of our research. Talk to industry experts. Strengthen your network.

Lateral thinkers from all over the world are invited to the International Symposium on Plastics Technology by the IKV on the occasion of its 70th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of the RWTH Aachen University.

The scientific symposium offers those being curious about cutting edge plastics technology an inspiring forum for exchange on research and innovation to discuss urgent questions and latest findings, to network and to experi-ence impulses for the future of plastics technology. It forms a symbiosis with the International Colloquium on Plastics Technology, which has always been distinguished by its industrial relevance.

Connecting the Symposium with the International Colloquium on Plastics Technology provides a unique oppor-tunity to experience both international scientific perspectives and practice-oriented research in a concen-trated and dense manner. Due to the diversity of the events, the symposium and the colloquium can be booked separately; however, participants at both events benefit from reduced-price combined tickets.

The conference addresses international managers and senior experts in design, development, part and mould construction, application technology, production and quality assurance in the field of injection moulding. Organised by IKV every two years, the conference has established itself as an international meeting point for the injection moulding segment and attracts a large number of attendees from abroad.

ANTEC®, organised by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), is one of the largest and most highly regarded specialist conferences for the plastics industry in the US. Through the presentation of papers on current research topics by its scientific assistants, IKV makes an important contribution to the program of this annual event.

This event, organised by the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), is one of the world's largest international conferences in the field of fibre-reinforced plastics. In 2017 in Seattle, IKV scientist Philipp Wagner presented two papers dealing with current projects and research results.

The Polymer Processing Society stages its major international conference every year at a different location in one of the three geographic regions of Asia/Australia, America and Europe/Africa.

In December 2017, the venue was Cancun in Mexico. Two members of IKV gave a presentation there about an innovative mould technology developed by IKV with Frimo GmbH for the customised production of continuous fibre-reinforced composite parts. Another topic in Mexico was the inverse design of cooling channels for the production of high-precision plastic mouldings.

The International Polymer Colloquium is held every year at the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Engineering. Scientific assistants from IKV regularly attend this event to present papers to the international participants describing some of IKV's latest research results.
