Welcome to the
Institute of
Plastics Processing (IKV)
at RWTH Aachen University
The Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University sees itself as
- a research institute
- a training facility for engineers in plastics technology
- a research and development partner for industry, and
- a training/qualification centre for the skilled crafts
Today, more than 300 staff at IKV are working on researching the challenges of tomorrow in the field of plastics processing. Research projects can provide answers, for example, to questions relating to the more efficient use of plastics.
Furthermore, IKV is a highly regarded research and development partner along the entire value chain of the plastics industry and, as a member of the AiF (German Confederation of Industrial Research Associations), an important partner to small and medium-sized enterprises.
IKV wants to motivate budding students to study plastics engineering at RWTH Aachen University. The plastics sector is a highly interesting one and the industry has a promising future. It is full of new ideas and innovations.
The skilled crafts also benefit from IKV's transfer of know-how, because all the latest research results are incorporated in the education and training courses available for the skilled crafts.
